Abstract

This thesis entitled: ‘Language Learning Strategies used by the Teacher in Teaching Speaking (a Case Study of An English Teacher in SMK NEGERI NIBAAF) in the School 2021/2022’ Advisors (1) Drs. Edmundus Bouk, M.Pd and (2) Fransiska Densiana Luruk, S.Pd, M.Hum. This research is conducted to answer the following problems: What strategies are used by the teachers in teaching speaking? And What are the problems faced by the teachers in teaching speaking? The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. There are two English teachers in SMK Negeri Nibaaf in the school 2021/2022 who become the subject of this study. The instruments used for data collection are observation and interview. To answer the research problems, the researcher calculated the English teacher in observation and interviewed them. The result of the data analysis shows that the English teachers used some strategies to improve the students speaking skills. The average score is only for some students who are shy and afraid to speak in English and most of the students are brave and confident to speak in English. It means that the English teacher used good strategies and that is excellent.
