Lubu, Florida, M. 2023. Thesis. Analyzing the Ability on Writing Descriptive Text of the Second Year Students of SMA Negeri Insana Barat in the School Year of 2022/2023”. Main Advisor : Drs. Edmundus Bouk, S.Pd, M.Pd and Associated Advisor : Imanuel Kamlasi, S.Pd, M.Pd. The purpose of this research is to describe the student ability in Writing deacriptive text. This research is a Quantitave research .The subject of this research is the second year students of SMA Negeri Insana Barat while the object of this research is to find out the difficulties faced by the students in writing descriptive text. The researcher used a purposive sampling technique to take a population 40 students and sample 20 students. To collect data researchers use tests. The test was conducted to determine the ability of students in writing descriptive text. Based on data analyzed the researcher found that students could not use grammar correctly, this was based on the percentage of students ability to writing descriptive text. The percentage of students’ ability in content was score 78 ( 20% ), grammar score 70 (19%) , vocabulary score 62 (17%), and Mechanics score 61 (16 %). of the four writing components, the researcher found the students were strong in content and weak in mechanics. The results of the data analysis showed that the ability to write descriptive text of SMA Negeri Insana Barat , students was included in the very good category.
