Abstract

Tefnai,Jery,Romwaldus. 2022 The Correlation between Students‟ Interest and their Achievement in Learning English at the second students‟ of SMA Negeri Noemuti, English Study Program Faculty Eduational Science Timor Univercity.(supervised by Imanuel Kamlasi,S.Pd,M.Pd and Drs.Ulu Emanuel M.Ed ) The purposes of research to investigate whether there is significant relationship between student interest and student learning achievement in learning English. The subjects of the study were 11th grade students‟ of SMA Negeri Noemuti in the first semester. In this case, the research tok five student male and fifteen student female as the subject. This research uses a mixed methods that combines or connects quantitative and qualitative research methods.. The instrument in this study was a questionnaire related to students' interest in learning in English and documentation of their English learning achievement which were assessed using the product moment formula and analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 statistical program formula. Based on the moment product test, it shows that there is a significant and positive relationship between students' interest and their students' English learning outcomes at SMA Negeri Noemuti which shows a high correlation. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that students build a higher interest in learning English because interest and learning outcomes have a positive relationship, teachers should make English lessons more interesting because it can affect their interest in learning. students and other researchers to be able to conduct further research on specific skills because this research refers to several skills that are in English.
