Abstract
Seran, N. Maria (2024). This thesis is entitled “The Effectiveness Of Using Pictures To Improve The Eleven Grade Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Of SMA Negeri Binino In School Year 2023/2024,”English Study Program, FKIP, University Timor. Main advisor Drs. Anselmus Sahan, M.P.d and Associate Advisor Maria Wihelmina Wisrance, S.Pd., M.Pd. Vocabulary plays an important role in a language learning, especially in teaching and learning English language. In teaching and learning English, the students sometimes get problems and difficulties to master four English skills. The researcher’s experience when joining Teaching Training (PPL) showed that the students got difficulties with English vocabulary. Thus, by conducting this study, the writer is triggered to find out whether or not picture media effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. The research design of this research is preexperimental design which consisted of pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The researcher calculated the mean score of pre-test and post-test to know the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery. The finding shows that mean score of post-test (72,54) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (65,77) with standard deviation (6.780>4.535).
