Taimenas; Anna Adiorata Prima. 2024. Thesis. “The Use of Song Lyric to Improve Student Pronunciation for the Eight Grades Student of SMPK Joseph Noemuti for the School Year 2023/2024”. English Study Program, FIP, University Timor. The main advisor named Dr. Mikhael Misa, S.Pd., M.Pd and the associate advisor named Fransiska D. Luruk, S.Pd., M.Pd. This research was about improving students’ pronunciation through song lyric at the eight grade students of SMPK Joseph Noemuti. The problem statement of this thesis was therefore, song lyric would improve pronunciation skills of the students. The objective of the research is to measure song lyrics can improve student’s pronunciation skills at the eight grade of SMPK Joseph Noemuti. This research employed classroom action research with two cycles. This population of this research was the eight grade of SMPK Joseph Noemuti. Total population of class VIII was 50 students. The sample were VIII/B and consist of 25 students. The sampling technique was one important aspects of research, and the sampling technique in this research was purposive sampling. The instruments of the research were pronunciation test using song lyrics with the title “Ghost (by Justin Bieber) and Right Now (by One Direction). The writer was used the CAR principle to collect the data and divides into two cycles. The result showed that the application of the use of song lyrics as media is proven to improve students' pronunciation comprehension with a standard deviation in cycle I of 11,17356 and 8,901578 in the cycle II sound production ability test.
