Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop the students an English vocabulary in short story as learning media for students at MTs. Nurul Falah Kefamenanu. This research used classroom action research (CAR). The action research has been conducted in to 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of four steps : planning, action, observation and reflecting. The technique of this research used test of short story that consists of multiple choice, essay and quesionnaire. The test consists of cycle I and cycle II. The research analyzed the average score of each test to find out the improvments of students’ vocabulary in short story after the action that was conducted. The result of research shows that the implementation of short story could improve the students’ vocabulary, that can be seen in the result of the students’ average score in the Cycle I was 64,81 and in the Cycle II was 70. It can be conclude that the teacher choose the short story for learning and teaching vocabulary as one of the techniques to improve the students vocabulary.
