Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out how the use song improve the students’ vocabulary mastery in English students of second grade students of SMA Swasta Pelita Karya of the School Year of 2021/2022. This research applied a Classroom Action Research. The sample of this research was 10 students of second grade students of SMA Swasta Pelita Karya. The instrument of the research was a test. The result showed that the average score level of the students is 54.28% while the average value of the aspect of vocabulary is 4.00. It shows that improve the vocabulary mastery ’ .This research aims to improve the second grade students of SMA Swasta Pelita Karya in mastering vocabulary using English songs. Songs can be trusted to help remember vocabulary and use the songs are interested in learning English. Memorizing song can be used to develop English Vocabulary mastery so that the purpose of learning English as a communication tool can be achieved optimally. It can be seen from the students score on vocabulary test which in increased from vocabulary tests given in the cycle I and cycle II. In the students achievement that songs have a significant impact on improving students vocabulary mastery to improve students’ listening skills in second grade SMA Swasta Pelita Karya in the school year 2021/2022.The assessment of students' vocabulary and understanding in the classification of four students got bad and two students got very bad. Then on a percentage basis, there were six students who scored less than 45.71%. Bigger than cycle II (85.5), in the classification eight students got very good scores and two students got good scores, so in percentage terms there were eight students got very good scores 8.0% and two students got good scores 2.0%.
