Da Silva. Agnesensi.2021.The Effectiveness of Using Skimming Technique of the Tenth Grade Students’ of SMA Swasta Pelita Karya in the School Year 2020/2021. English Study Program. Timor University. Advisors: (1) Imanuel Kamlasi, S.Pd., M.Pd. And (2) Drs. Edmundus Bouk, M.Pd. This research was aimed to know the students’ reading improvement by using skimming technique and to find out to what extent skimming technique could improvement the students’ reading ability. The method used in this research is experimental design. The multiple choice test was the instrument to elicit the data. the researcher used pretest, treatment and posttest was implemented to examine the students reading improvement after the implementation of skimming technique. The subjects of this research were the tenth grade(IPA) students’ of SMA Swasta Pelita Karya Kefamenanu. The result of this research showed that, There were some significant improvements from pre-test. The students ’mean score was 72.1, after the researcher gave the students four treatments and do the post-test. The students’ mean score from post-test was 90.3. There was a very significant improvement from pretest and post-test. So, based on the data and data analysis, it shows that the used of skimming technique is effective to improve the students’ reading ability.
